Here’s what this summer’s inaugural cohort of Hire Rochester Summer Interns learned on the job.
CLAIRE CHO ’28

Hometown: Los Angeles, California
Major: Business: Marketing
Internship: Nicslab Ops. Inc., a global semiconductor company
“I believe that in an age where the barrier to entry for technical fields is getting increasingly low, being able to bridge specialized knowledge and clear communication is becoming more important than ever. Working in semiconductors as a marketing major means my technical knowledge is limited, which is why I’ve been making a deliberate effort to study the field. If I don’t understand at least the gist of what we’re actually building and selling, my work will only ever be surface level. By studying my company, our competitors, and what we’re doing well and where there’s room to grow, I execute my work with a little more intention.”
ALAYNA LEESTMA ’27

Hometown: Caledonia, Michigan
Majors: History and Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE)
Internship: Venture for ClimateTech, a global non-profit climate tech accelerator administered by NextCorps, and funded by NYSERDA
“Over the course of my Hire Rochester internship at Venture for ClimateTech, I helped manage a climate technology startup accelerator program spanning the course of a few months. One of my main projects involved coordinating more than one hundred meetings between nine startups and over 20 mentors. I also had the opportunity to give founders public speaking advice while they prepared for pitches. I am exiting my Hire Rochester internship with a strong interest in working in the nonprofit space after graduation, and look forward to applying the skills I developed in this internship during my senior year and beyond.”
“Levi” Li. PIERAN “LEVI” LI ’27

Hometown: Shanghai, China
Majors: Digital Media Studies and Audio Arts and Technology
Internship: Frintz, an innovative photography and advertising platform
“At Frintz, my role is mainly social media content creation. This internship has helped me grow in many ways. It is my first time working with a company in this kind of role, and I have learned how to use ClickUp to plan tasks, track time, and communicate with the team. I have also gained more hands-on experience in video editing, graphic design, and writing copy for a real company. This role has helped me improve both technical skills and soft skills, including time management, teamwork, and communication. Since I work remotely, I have to plan my daily schedule and manage about five to six hours of work each day. Overall, this internship has given me valuable experience and helped me feel more prepared for future work in media, marketing, and content creation.”
